TechRadar Verdict
Another USB4 drive demonstrates why this is rapidly becoming the connection technology of choice.
Perhaps it is not as nimble as the Corsair EX400U, but its more robust and has hardware encryption.
Shame its not more reasonably priced.
Thats disturbingly 47% more expensive than the EX400U in the USA.
Therefore, this isnt a cheap option.
SanDisk Extreme PRO with USB4: Specs
Model No.
At 14cm long and weighing 172g, this wont easily fit in a trouser pocket with the cable attached.
What this unit offers that neither the Corsair EX400U nor Nextorage NX-PS1PRO delivers as effectively is damage protection.
It can also survive a fall of 2 meters, but this claim doesnt detail what it fell onto.
In the first CrystalMark test, the write speed was between 3,100 and 3,200.
Not really an answer, is it?
The other problem is the price, which seems much less competitive than one might have hoped.
Should I buy the SanDisk Extreme PRO with USB4?
Transfer speed is criticalCompared to a USB 3.2 SSD, the SanDisk Extreme PRO with USB4 is a beast.
At more than double the best speed of even a Gen 2x2 drive in reading and writing.
But you need a USB4 port to experience this performance.
USB 3.2 of whatever bang out isnt good enough to justify this expense.
You need bigger than 4TBThe largest drive available is 4TB, but these have yet to be released.
This allows for 8TB capacities; at around $70, its super cheap.
While it does use plastic construction, it has an IP55 rating and should travel well enough.
Costing less than $100 for the 1TB model, it delivers sustained performance and hardware encryption.
