Despite theNintendo Switch 2being officially unveiled, the rumor mill is still very much in full swing.
Now thiscouldmean that GameCube games are going to come to Nintendo Switch Online post-Switch 2 release.
But to momentarily play devils advocate, thats not a surefire thing.
After all, the original Switch did have an official GameCube controller made forSuper Smash Bros. All these systems are present and accounted for as bespoke NSO retro game libraries.
And we all know which console came after the Nintendo 64.
Still, I dont want to play devils advocate.
F-Zero GX
F-Zero GXsreputation is pretty legendary.
It also had tons of tracks, vehicles, a story mode and a clever car creator.
and very much deserving of a comeback.
I also just love the vibes of it all.PSOhas a very distinct, often moody atmosphere.
This is greatly helped by its clean visual style and an impressively robust soundtrack.
It is arguable that a native Switch 2 port ofThe Wind Waker HDwould be the preferable choice here.
But as fantastic asUltimateis, for some there simply isnt a replacement forMeleeshyper-fast brand of platform fighting.
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
So why not have the best of both worlds by puttingMarioKart: Double Dashon Nintendo Switch Online?
As much as I love these features, theyre largely fluff.
This drastically changes how you interact with your kart and others.
Its also probably the hardest game in theMario Kartseries.
Drifting feels decidedly different thanks to the weightier karts.
This leads to some of the most unabashedly chaotic racing the series has ever seen.
Metroid Prime 2is notably more hostile to the player than the first game.
As a result, exploration has more immediacy and urgency to it until you get those precious suit upgrades.
Soul Calibur 2
Soul Calibur 2isnt just one of the best GameCube games.
Its one of thebest fighting gamesever made, full stop.
Especially as youd be able to jump online and play with a friend.
Here’s a handful more I’d love to see added to Nintendo Switch Online.
killer7This ultra-stylish shooter from Grasshopper Manufacture does have a recent Steam port, so is playable on modern machines.
