In physical terms, it borrows a number of premium features fromDJIs flagship RS4 gimbal.

All of these tweaks improve a hands-on experience which was already solid.

(Note that the multi-camera control cable bundled with the RS 4 Mini is a USB-C number.

Thats despite weighing just a smidge more than theRS 3 Miniat only 890g.

Setup still starts with balancing the axes, which is an unfortunate necessity with any gimbal.

They can still be a bit grippy when trying to find the sweet spot with a heavier camera though.

Clearances are quite tight in this orientation, mind.

This simply slots into place on the mounting plate.

Other improvements also proved welcome in practise.

The built-in battery still isnt removable, but it is bigger at 3,100mAh.

In testing, we averaged around half of that, which is still better than the RS 3 Mini.

That reduction means you’re able to get back to shooting more quickly.

Fully loaded, its shorter handle does offer less ergonomic support than theRS4or RS4 Pro.

In performance terms, the RS 4 Mini has the chops to compete with pricier gimbals.

It effortlessly smooths out motion across all three axes, even when youre walking along with your subject.

Movements from carrying a camera by hand are almost entirely eliminated in the resulting footage.

Youll be hard-pushed to find a more intuitive gimbal.

Nowhere is that more evident than with the RS 4 Minis party trick: subject tracking.

The effectiveness of this tool cant be overstated.

Its also a boon for content creators working alone.

These dual uses are reflected in the ways you might enable ActiveTrack.

This feature is a lot less gimmicky than it might sound.

Not least because the feature proved incredibly reliable in testing, never once missing a signal.

The RS 4 Mini can be used to stabilize cameras and smartphones, with an optional tracking module for game-changing subject tracking features.

ActiveTrack proved no less consistent, locking on to faces with remarkable accuracy.

That said, it still supports vertical shooting and offers impressive stabilization.

Its relatively lightweight, easy to set up and supports a range of accessories.

It is heavier and more expensive, though.
