Avowed is an excellent first-person fantasy RPG that features slick combat feel and moreish exploration.
But thats really where the similarities end;Avowedis very much its own beast.
It is, however, fair to say thatAvowedwont be for everyone.
As the envoy, youre thrust into the center of proceedings.
Its an involving setup that leaves plenty of room for you to make your own choices.
Do you represent the empire with unwavering loyalty, or grow sympathetic to the lands resistance factions?
And to be frank, youll need all the skills you’re able to get.
It was a rare occurrence that companions left an encounter without being incapacitated first.
Yatzli, meanwhile, is an absolute delight.
A land worth living in
InAvowed,the setting of the Living Lands is genuinely breathtaking.
You have the bustling city of Paradis, itself replete with enterable buildings and winding side paths.
It has an almost dreamlike quality to it, making exploration in itself feel plenty rich and rewarding.
The maps ofAvowedare quite large and theres plenty to explore in each.
Exploration overall, then, can be as dangerous as it is rewarding.
Over on the performance front,Avoweddoes occasionally buckle under the weight of its busy, richly detailed areas.
I ran into frequent frame rate hitches on PC, but the game was more stable onXbox Series X.

You were hoping for a larger open worldSkyrim,this is not.
Accessibility
Avowedhas a good amount to offer in the accessibility department to accommodate players of all kinds.
There unfortunately doesnt appear to be any colorblind options available at launch, however.
I was able to carry my save between platforms thanks to theMicrosoftaccount functionality.
I predominantly played with anXbox Wireless Controlleron Xbox Series X, and theRazer Wolverine V3 Proon PC.
On console, I played on anLG CX OLED TV.
