That, and its overall build quality, leaves something to be desired.

Much of this could be forgiven if it wasnt for the Predators retail price.

But unlike those, the Acer Predator hardly does anything to stand out from the crowd.

And even there, Nintendos official pad has the Predator beat on both build and battery life.

This isnt to say the Acer Predator isnt at least worth a look.

Unlike most other third-party controllers, availability (at the time of writing) is acting like extremely limited.

The controller isnt listed at retailers likeAmazon, Argos, or John Lewis in the UK.

Moreover, Acer itself doesnt have a store page for the controller in the US or Australia.

The bumpers up top also offer a soft, tactile clicky feel.

Thumbsticks also feel great here with a comfortable amount of concavity for your thumbs to firmly rest on.

Other aspects of the controller dont fare as well.

The d-pad and face buttons have an overly mushy feel.

A pretty mixed bag overall, then, in terms of buttons and modules.

Its also worth noting that the Acer Predators 2.4GHz dongle is not separate in the box.

Rather, its housed within the controllers onboard battery compartment.

This will make for a long-lasting gamepad thats resistant to stick drift issues.

What surprised me most here is the Predators incredibly effective rumble tech.

Its a well-rounded vibration that successfully adds a good layer of immersion to whichever game youre playing.

The Acer Predator controller also matches many of its peers on compatibility and connection types.

Battery life is also pretty decent overall.

The controller comes with a pair of Energizer AA batteries included in the box.

With these, I managed to get around 20 hours of playtime before needing to swap them out.

Should I buy the Acer Predator controller?

You like rumbleThis is arguably the Acer Predator controllers standout feature and really comes alive in action-heavy games.

While not quite haptic feedback or Nintendos own HD Rumble, its nonetheless very robust and impactful here.

While not the absolute worst weve ever tested in this regard, it still leaves much to be desired.

Superb build quality, lovely additional features, and an included charging dock all at a very reasonable price.
